Detailed description of The Golf Club

The Golf Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in New Albany, Ohio.

The course opened for play in 1967. The course was designed by Pete Dye. It is a very early Pete Dye design. He enlisted the help of then twenty-seven-year-old local Jack Nicklaus to help him verify some of the potential shot selections as he was designing the course. A key design element of Pete Dye golf courses is his use of railroad ties. That can be seen here in abundant use, particularly on #3.

The course is  in a countryside setting. The fairways on the first six holes are conventional, the middle six holes are tight and tree lined, and the final six holes are links-style. The greens are sloped and maintained as fast as they can get. Water hazards (creeks, ponds, and a lake) come into play on nine holes.

The signature hole is #16, a 200-yard, par 3.

The course is consistently ranked in the top 50 courses in the United States by the major golf publications.

Blue tees: par-72, 7,268 yards, 75.3 / 140
